The Social Security Administrations Announces 14 New Compassionate Allowances Conditions For 2026

 

The Social Security Administration (“SSA”) added 14 new conditions to the Compassionate Allowances program. This brings the total number of conditions on the list to 314. Disabilities that comprise the Compassionate Allowance list represent the most serious disabilities that affect individuals. The purpose of the program is to expedite disability decisions, so individuals suffering from these severe diseases receive their benefit decisions as quick as possible. More than 1.2 million people with life-threatening disabilities have received their benefits through this expedited process.  The new additions include:

  1. Adenylosuccinate Lyase Deficiency – Neonatal Form and Type 1
  2. Aicardi Syndrome
  3. Baraitser-Winter Syndrome
  4. Beare-Stevenson Cutis Gyrata Syndrome
  5. Bohring-Opitz Syndrome
  6. CASK-Related Gene Disorders
  7. Hepatosplenic T-Cell Lymphoma
  8. Lafora Disease
  9. Malignant Migrating Partial Seizures of Infancy (MMPSI)
  10. OPHN1 Syndrome
  11. Primary Cardiac Sarcoma
  12. Primary Intracranial Malignant Melanoma
  13. Uveal Melanoma – with Metastases
  14. Warburg Micro Syndrome
